Freedom Ten Mile Run

Sister runs supporting our troops and federal employees overseas are an important element of the Credit Union Miracle Day Family of Races. Service members as well as other U.S. citizens stationed far away appreciate the opportunity to participate in these races and feel connected to their homeland.

For the past six years‚ sister runs have taken place in: 
2009 — Baghdad, Iraq
2010 — Kabul‚ Afghanistan
2011 — Camp Arifjan‚ Kuwait
2012 — Camp Arifjan, Kuwait and
Wiesbaden Army Garrison, Germany
2013 — Camp Arifjan, Kuwait and
Wiesbaden Army Garrison, Germany
2014 — Wiesbaden Army Garrison, Germany


Andrews Federal CU sponsored the 2014 German Credit Union Freedom Ten Mile Run.

2014 Credit Union Freedom Run — Wiesbaden Army Garrison, Germany

The 3rd Annual German Credit Union Freedom 10 Ten Mile Run, sponsored by Andrews Federal Credit Union, kicked off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 12 with perfect weather at the Wiesbaden Army Garrison. The event included a 10 mile run, a 5K run/ walk and a ½ mile kids’ run and had the best turnout ever — 372-plus registered participants.

“It is an honor to sponsor the 3rd Annual Freedom Run,” said Jim Hayes, President & CEO of Andrews FCU. “We take pride in supporting our service members and their families overseas.” Volunteers from the USO, Better Opportunity for Single Service Members and Andrews FCU lent their support. Morale Welfare and Recreation provided banners and signage throughout the community as well as radio ads prior to the run. All runners received a Freedom Run t-shirt, racer bibs and military challenge coins courtesy of Andrews FCU. The base has a population of about 16,500 service members and their families. The top male and female overall finishers for the 10 mile run were: Women’s Overall Top Finisher: Ann Parthemore with a time of 1:06:02.5, Men’s Overall Top Finisher: Christopher Jacobsen with a time of 1:04:07.9.

A special thank you to the Defense Credit Union Council for donating $10 for each runner this year at Wiesbaden Army Garrison, totaling $3,720 to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
