RACE WEEKEND VOLUNTEERS
Each year, the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run relies on the assistance of 1,200 volunteers to help with logistics to make the event run smoothly and the runners’ experience memorable, comfortable and safe.
Assistance is needed from pre- to post-run, and every position is vital to the success of the event. Whether helping transport elite athletes from local airports or setting up the Expo; manning a water stop or serving as a sentry along the ten-mile course; or assisting with race security and tear-down, all volunteers play a pivotal role in managing this massive undertaking.
Sponsoring credit unions and partner organizations who wish to be part of race day excitement (without having to run ten miles!) are encouraged to become volunteers! Each volunteer receives a commemorative race t-shirt, the opportunity to attend the Runners’ Expo and Clinic, and a guaranteed, transferable entry (at the prevailing fee) for the following year’s race.
Note that volunteers should meet these four criteria: (1) be at least 14 years old (parents and children may or may not be assigned to the same location); (2) groups of less than 25 are likely to be split up (if your group contains 25 or more, we will attempt to place you together) (3) all volunteers must be able to report on time and remain on the job for the duration (four to six hours); (4) and no-shows should be anticipated and replaced.
