Kids Craft Hour (Paint the Pigs), Check Presentation & Tour
Our annual kids craft hour and press conference officially kick off race weekend festivities. You won’t want to miss this chance to meet patients served by Children's National Medical Center Friday, April 3, at 111 Michigan Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C.
Arrive at 10:00 A.M. to check in and get settled at the craft tables. We’ll work side by side with kids, decorating our trademark porcelain piggy banks, from 10:20 AM until 11:20 AM, then we’ll shift gears to the press conference and check presentation. Afterwards, stay for an optional tour of CNMC to learn more about the life-saving care provided at this Children’s Miracle Network affiliated hospital.
Introducing Children’s National Medical Center Champion, Jessica Gregory
Jessica Gregory of District Heights, MD can often be found spontaneously breaking into dance even when there is no music playing. This bubbly, energetic girl had a rocky start to life, but you would never know it. Before Jessica was born she was diagnosed with spina bifida, a neural tube defect in which the spinal cord does not develop properly. Doctors at Children’s National Medical Center explained to her parents that she would have difficulty walking and learning.
Today, thanks to numerous medical procedures and her determination, Jessica looks no different than any other 10-year old girl and not only walks, she practices kung fu! Jessica began martial arts at just 3 years of age, the same year the braces on her ankles and feet were removed and she learned to walk. You can meet Jessica in person at our 7th Annual Cherry Blossom Gala on Friday, April 3. Buy your tickets now and look for Jessica and other local Champions to usher in the festivities!
