Credit is Due to You…
and the multitude of credit union volunteers serving on the board, committees and on race day. It is an incredible example of credit unions and their affiliates cooperating to help sick kids, build team spirit, and raise awareness on Capitol Hill. Here are some results:
- Sixth year of race sponsorship. This year we had 130 sponsors representing
30 states.
- In 2008 the net proceeds to children’s hospitals across the country exceeded the
$1 million goal at $1,036,000. Since its inception in 2001, CUMD has turned over a total of $2.6 million to local children’s hospitals.
- Of the12,000 runners, 5,700 were credit union members. Fifty credit union teams competed. The runners raised $35,000 in the on-line giving program.
- 600 Capitol Hill runners were registered.
- Over 50 credit unions sent nearly 700 volunteers to help at the race as course sentries, water stops, etc.
- A very successful Gala Dinner and Auction held April 4 raised $45,000!
